I went to Old Naledi to visit the kids of Happy Home, who received some hot soup to keep warm on this cold and rainy day. I am so glad whenever I get a chance to see them. These kids just make my heart melt.
There was a massive thunderstorm the other day and overall, we've had lots of rain these days. The beauty of the rain here is that most of the time the sun will come out fairly quickly again, sometimes even quick enough for a beautiful rainbow like this.
Yesterday, our friends got married here in Gaborone. The day was grey and cloudy and in the morning it was pouring down with rain. But unlike in many other places, in Botswana, rain on your wedding day is considered a fortunate sign and so we happily went ahead and celebrated the newly weds with a lovely brunch and cake at the Sanitas teagarden.
We're back in Botswana and everything is GREEN! There is lots of grass on the roadsides and leafs on every tree and it makes such a difference.
Work has started but there was time for some drinks at Gabs Dam on Friday, where we got into the biggest rainstorm I have ever had here. But after an hour or so, the rain was gone and the sun came back with a beautiful (double) rainbow over the lake and some dramatic skies.
It's good to be back and so far I am quite enjoying the rainy days...
everyone has been waiting for rain over here and today it finally came! it has been dripping a little bit here and there in the past few weeks but nothing that could really count as 'rain'.
the rain started quite slow and then was pouring down with some ferocious thundering around us.
it was a warm, heavy rainshower that was over again after something like 15 minutes but it was enough to leave everything soaked and wet!
oh, and next time I will make sure that my car is outside to get rid of all that dust!!!
